The Initial Consultation
If your dentist has recommended orthodontic treatment, or you are interested in a free consultation, please give us a call.
The initial consultation takes approximately 30 minutes and consists of a comprehensive oral examination, diagnosis, and an explanation of treatment plan options. You will also have the opportunity to discuss financial arrangements with our treatment coordinator. Please ask us about our interest free payment plan options. For your convenience, we offer courtesy insurance predetermination and filing.
If you decide to proceed with treatment, records may be taken on the same visit, or another appointment may be scheduled at your convenience.
Records
Records allow us to analyze each case accurately. They are also used to record the existing malocclusion for future reference.
Records may include:
- Impressions from which plaster models of the teeth are constructed.
- Digital photographs of the teeth and face.
- X-rays of the teeth and jaws (if necessary).
Treatment Planning
Our treatment coordinators will discuss the treatment plan, which has been formulated using information obtained from the initial consultation and records. Arrangements are then made to begin treatment or, if it is too early, to recall the patient periodically until it is an appropriate time to commence treatment.
Children
Very frequently, orthodontic problems are the result of unequal jaw size or position. The American Association of Orthodontists recommends that every child have an orthodontic screening by the age of 7. Early treatment is designed to modify jaw growth and development. This can only be accomplished in a growing patient. Successful treatment in this stage not only lessens the duration of treatment in later stages, but more importantly, develops a more pleasing smile and profile.
Adults
Orthodontic treatment for the adult patient is beginning to gain universal acceptance. Braces are not just for children anymore. Adult orthodontic treatment is very rewarding. There is no age limit for orthodontic correction and some cases can be completed in only six to nine months!
